Who we are

Who we are

Who we are

We are women who have all discovered at different times and in different places that it is a good idea to live in the manner of St. Francis: in poverty, celibacy and obedience.

The community of the Franciscan Sisters of Olpe, founded by Maria Theresia Bonzel, finds two pillars for their life, prayer and work to be consistent and right: adoration and tackling, we called it in the Jubilee Year 2013.

Being there before God and for people has many different facets.

In our commitment to children and young people, to education and upbringing, to sick children and adults, to the elderly and to people on the margins of society.

The sisters work and live in a Franciscan, open and open-minded way in various places in smaller and larger convents, are involved in the parishes and in social actions, and get involved wherever there is a need for people.

By standing up for others, by our consistent actions, helping and praying, we bear witness to God's love for people. By intensively dealing with the often not easy reality in the sense of Christian charity and by our "constant adoration" we try again and again to build a bridge between God and his world.

In our common religious life we also care for each other and encourage each other to understand the Gospel even better and to live according to it. We live a simple life, sharing what we have with others and being open to the concerns and needs of our fellow human beings.
